Kate Herold, CNM, MSN is a full-scope nurse-midwife in Chicago. After completing a bachelor's degree in English and Gender and Women's Studies at Grinnell College, Kate worked for several years at Planned Parenthood. It was there that she discovered her interest in women's health care, and subsequently went back to school to complete her master’s degree and nurse-midwifery training at University of Illinois-Chicago. She has been practicing as a midwife at PCC Community Wellness, providing care for underserved communities on Chicago's west side, ever since.

Her passion for midwifery is grounded in feminism, with the goal of providing education so that women can make informed decisions and be active participants in their own health care and wellness. She believes that assisting women to have the kind of birth they desire helps them to start their journey as mothers feeling capable, strong, and empowered.

Kate currently serves as the recording secretary on the Board of the Illinois Affiliate of ACNM. In her spare time she enjoys bicycling and triathlons, cooking and improv comedy, and reading on her couch with one cat in her lap and the other one nearby.
